National U15 Futsal Champions

On Friday 3 May, an eager U15 futsal team set off from Highworth to St George’s Park to represent Kent and the South East in the Futsal Final. It was a long journey from winning local tournaments in Ashford and Shepway, Kent, the South East and then on to top the group at the FA Semi-Finals. The Highworth team included Freya Burns, Frankie Stannard, Alicia Grimmond, Emily Moss, Emily Body, Eve Doughty and Lou Bone. They played against a team from Tollbar Academy in the Final and Mrs Dodds, said, “We dominated the game, not letting them have time on the ball, working hard and playing a great passing game.” The final score was 5-0 to Highworth, with three goals scored by Freya Burns, one from Frankie Stannard and one from Alicia Grimmond. The team was comprised of students from Years 9 and 10, when lots of the other teams were made up of entirely of Year 10 students. The school is very proud of its young players and Mrs Dodds commented that they have learned a lot from this experience which will make them an even better team!
