Theatre Trip
On Thursday 26 June, A Level English Literature and Film Studies students were given the fantastic opportunity to watch the West End production of “The Comedy About Spies”. The Mischief Company’s farcical performance was extremely well done, with brilliant use of physical comedy. This furthered Film Studies students’ exploration of silent cinema as the farcical comedy had parallels to Buster Keaton’s two-reelers; such as the portrayal of the 4 hotel rooms resembling closely to Keaton’s “High Sign”. This was a humorous modern take, a funny and captivating scene to watch; for film students and everyone alike. The performance also assisted English students and our future study of comedy plays, with our experience as a comedy audience enhancing our study of the witty play, “The Importance of Being Earnest”. It was fascinating to observe a different and eccentric style of comedy being performed, and we can safely say that this was an experience to remember!
