Bishop Rose Visit

The Right Reverend Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover, came to visit the school on Thursday 26 June, delivering a talk to Year 8 students as part of their English course entitled Inspiring Women.

Students had previously researched the Bishop, finding out key information about her career highlights such as her being Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth II, and the first woman to be Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons.

The students were justifiably hooked on her words and were happy to ask her questions at the end of her talk. It was amazing to see how confident they were in questioning her, and I am sure she was equally amazed at how they surrounded her afterwards, desperate for an autograph, a conversation and a photograph. She truly inspired them.

She also took part in a Q&A session with Year 12 RS students on the topic of Feminist Theology, as well as being interviewed by three members of the Afro-Caribbean Society, at the request of the Diocese. We hope that she enjoyed her visit as much as the students did; it is telling she stayed at Highworth for an hour and a half past her due leaving time!
