Highworth Sporting Success at the Julie Rose Stadium

The jubilant cheers from Ashford’s Julie Rose Stadium could be heard for miles around – Highworth Grammar School’s annual Sports Day was as roaring a success as it has ever been. Every student competed in a variety of events to win points for their Learning Community, including beanbag throwing, welly throwing and the three legged race, as well as the more conventional track events. Some of Highworth’s top athletes competed in the Pentathlon, including Marshall Smith, who represents Kent in athletics. The elated cheers from the stands were deafening when it was announced that the VM Community were the overall winners, for the fifth year running.

Highworth Grammar School Sports Day creates a sense of unity between staff and students and builds strong relationships within the Learning Communities. Although there is a competitive atmosphere, there is also teamwork and encouragement to make sure everyone participates to the best of their abilities, whilst also having fun!
