Rhineland Trip

“From Friday 20 June until Monday 23 June, a group of Year 9 and 10 German students and 5 members of staff went on the Rhineland trip to Germany. We stayed at the hotel Rheinlust in Boppard by the river Rhine, which had a picturesque view and a lovely town centre we enjoyed visiting.

On the first day, we went to the famous Loreley look out point where we participated in summer tobogganing. This was exhilarating and a one of a kind opportunity for us all. We also enjoyed a visit to the Marksburg castle. During the tour, we discovered the history behind this remarkable landmark. After a visit to Koblenz town centre, we went bowling and this was a great way to relax.

We started the second day with a cable car ride up a hill from the town of Rüdesheim which gave us a fantastic view of the town, the surrounding vineyards and the River Rhine. We also visited the music museum, Siegfried’s Mechanisches Musikkabinett which included many self playing instruments from the 18th to 20th century which left us in awe. After that, we were given the opportunity to explore the town of Rüdesheim with a group of friends. Here we could buy souvenirs and enjoy German delicacies, including multiple ice creams.  We had a great trip immersing ourselves in the German culture and language which increased our confidence with speaking and we made many unforgettable memories.”
