Marlowe Theatre Dance Performance

We are incredibly proud to announce that the Highworth Dance Department achieved a milestone this year by being invited to perform at the Marlowe Theatre on 9 May. In a testament to the calibre of our dancers, Highworth was the only secondary school to be selected for the show, sharing the stage with elite professional dance companies and specialised dance schools.

The journey to the Marlowe was a rigorous one. After a competitive initial audition round, our dancers were one of three of the local acts selected to perform in the line up. The students performed before a near sold-out theatre of 1,200 audience members, demonstrating remarkable professionalism and composure under the bright lights of one of the region's most celebrated venues.
The A-Level Dancers performed an evolved version of ‘Law of Hope’, a dance theatre piece originally choreographed by Mrs Hooper for the Highworth Dance Show. To prepare for this unique platform, the students participated in intensive workshops to develop the original contemporary choreography, successfully integrating intricate hip hop and powerful break dance movements. You can find a recording of the final performance and insights of the rehearsal process on our instagram page @HighworthDance.
