Trip to Seville

Hola! In February, a group of us in Year 9 had the best experience going to Seville.  One unexpected place was Plaza de España. It was a beautiful square with a massive fountain in the middle of it. The time of the day was just perfect as the sun was starting to set and cast a beautiful glow on the surrounding architecture.

When we had our Spanish lessons during the trip, I found it really interesting to go to a real language school in Spain and learn from a new teacher in a totally new environment.

We also went to see the Seville Cathedral and the Giralda, a tall tower from which you can get the best views of the city.

There was one evening that was packed full of fun, new activities. We made paella with Spanish chefs, then went for an evening show of spectacular flamenco dancing. In groups, we made our own paella, carefully following the recipe we were being taught, down to the stirring technique, and learnt about the culture and history of the dish. We were shown even more culture, when we watched a flamenco show in the evening that was so lively and rhythmic. It had singers, dancers, and a guitarist, all effortlessly working together to create a passionate, Spanish masterpiece.  The trip to the Royal Alcázar was postponed at first but, when we did get to go, it was worth the wait!

There were always opportunities to get souvenirs everywhere in Seville, and it was lots of fun matching with friends and buying gifts to take back home to enjoy and remind us of our memorable trip. I had the best time in Seville, and will always cherish my first experience in Spain with many more to come. Adios!
