Christmas Markets 2025

From Thursday 27 to Friday 28 November, we went to the Christmas Markets in Cologne (Köln) in Germany. We had an absolutely fantastic time there; we enjoyed getting to know the city and exploring the Markets. When we arrived on Thursday evening, we were given a walking tour of Cologne and we had our first taste of the Markets.

After dinner and a good night’s sleep at the youth hostel, we set off early on Friday morning to go and explore Cologne further. We visited the world famous Cologne Cathedral that took over 600 years to build. Afterwards, we visited the Farina Fragrance Museum which is the home of Eau de Cologne and smelled many lovely fragrances. In between, we had time to go to the Markets and try lots of traditional food and buy lovely souvenirs. In the afternoon, we walked down to the Lindt chocolate factory situated by the river Rhine and this was one of our very favourite destinations during the trip.
