Borneo Expedition
As daunting as it was, signing up to go to Borneo was one of the most beneficial choices that I made in that period of my life. From the offset, Outlook Expeditions was an incredibly supportive company in providing us with adequate online resources and preparation sessions for the nine of us to know what we were expecting in both the practice weekend held in Brecon Beacons, Wales — all the way through to the real expedition in Borneo.
The experience was magical, mostly due to the connections built with other participants of the trip. We had no past knowledge of each other, so the experience was as much involved in developing new friendships as well as the personal cultural experiences we had; I will never forget the moments shared with everyone on this trip.
Equally importantly, the activities we chose as a group for the trip were amazing opportunities to get real insight into how the people of Borneo function. From planting our own sustainable coffee plants, to walking along challenging terrain in the rainforest (and, of course, seeing wild orangutans from only meters away), it is safe to say that the tan lines will soon fade, but the memories won’t!
