Copenhagen Trip

Year 10 and Year 12 geographers took a wonderful four day trip to the sustainable city of Copenhagen, Denmark in May half term, which is aiming to be carbon neutral by 2030.  On the first day, we visited the Natural History Museum of Copenhagen and saw the Little Mermaid Statue, showcasing the important history of Denmark. During our trip we also saw lots of landmarks on both bike and canal tours - biking is a popular way of travel throughout Copenhagen as it demonstrates their care for the environment.  We also had a guided tour of Copenhill - operational from 2017 as a waste to energy incinerator, with recreational activities of ski slopes and an 80m climbing wall.

A highlight of our trip was visiting Tivoli Gardens, which is the second oldest theme park in the world. We took part in a sustainability talk, which encouraged us to consider how entertainment settings can be made more environmentally, socially and economically friendly. We had lots of fun on the rides, and exploring the beautiful gardens.

Many of us picked up some Danish pastries in our free time allowing us to experience their cultural food. They were delicious!
