John Downton Awards 2023

On a cold December evening in Maidstone County Hall, Joanna (Year 12) won the 11-16 years Gold Award at the John Downton Awards.  The work was titled 'Blue mood,' for a painting she completed at the end of Year 11. If that wasn’t enough, Pip (Year 13) won the 16-18 yrs Gold Award, this work was titled 'Contemplation.' As some of you will be aware, this competition is the showpiece for some of the best student art work in the county. Once the exhibition has finished, a selection of the best work will go on show at the Turner Contemporary in January.

Other Highworth students whose work is also on show include Paige (Year 13), Olivia (Year 13) and ex-students Issy Freeman, Maddy Goddard and Janelle Villahermosa. If you know, or teach, any of the students please pass on your congratulations. If anyone is in Maidstone before Christmas, the exhibition is on at County Hall until the end of January 2024, 9.00am – 6.00pm (excluding weekends).
