Magistrates' Court Mock Trial Win
Early on a wet Saturday morning in March, the Year 8 and 9 Mock Court Trial team set out for Bromley Magistrates’ Court to compete against other schools from South East London and Kent in the local final of the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial competition.
The competition was tough and intense, with the team taking on the roles of lawyers, witnesses and magistrates as they defended and then prosecuted the accused, Jamie Rowe, who was charged with the possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. The judges were impressed with the tenacity and fierceness of our lawyers and the unbiased fairness of the magistrates as well as the firmness of our court usher and legal adviser in making sure the trials ran smoothly.
After all the scores were added together, the Highworth team were announced as the winners for the heat. We are now through to the next round, the SE regional final.
