RSE Consultation
Introduction
All parents and carers were invited to participate in our Parent Consultation regarding the new Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Framework that schools are required to begin teaching from Summer 2021.
The RSE programme is resourced and explored in Years 7-13 through the Personal, Social and Health Education programme (PSHE) delivered through Focus Days. The programme provides knowledge and encourages the acquisition of skills and attitudes which help students develop mutually supportive relationships to assist them in managing both their teenage and adult lives in a responsible and healthy way.
At Highworth, we believe that working in partnership with parents and carers is a crucial step in effectively meeting individual student needs and continuing to develop a curriculum offer that can help each pupil reach their potential. We are proud of our PSHE curriculum and the extent to which it encompasses our school ethos and encourages students to develop confidence, self awareness and respect for themselves and others which will enable them to develop their own values and moral standards.
Consultation Guidance Documents
We have provided a presentation to explain what the new framework is and to address commonly asked questions which we recommend reading alongside our draft RSE policy.
You may also find it useful to read a guide for parents of secondary age students produced by the government to explain the new RSE framework which can be found here.
For more specific information about when content is taught to pupils of different age groups throughout their time at Highworth, please refer to the Focus Day information which can be found here.
Consultation Dates
The RSE Consultation ended on FRIDAY 19 MARCH 2021.
