The Magistrates' Court Mock Trial (for Years 8 and 9) and the Bar Mock Trial (for Years 12 and 13) are preparation for a national competition. We are given specially written cases to prepare legal arguments before a competition trial held in a Court where we defend and prosecute the cases against other local schools. Students play the roles of lawyers, witnesses and court staff and are scored for their performance on the day (usually a Saturday). The winners then go through to regional and possibly national finals. In the past, we have been been very successful getting through to both regional and national finals.
