As well as high achievement, Highworth is renowned for high quality student care. Each student has her/his own Personal Mentor and regular individual meetings take place in order to discuss not only academic progress, but also to talk through any issues and develop a positive mentoring relationship.
The Head of Sixth Form has the responsibility of overseeing the academic progress of students as well as ensuring a smooth transition from GCSE to A Level study and special attention is given to students who are new to the school. All students are given ongoing support from the Sixth Form Team (Assistant Heads of Sixth Form, Sixth Form Manager, Attendance Officer and Careers Manager).
As students are encouraged to realise their full potential, we monitor progress closely and so, as well as meetings with the Mentor, there are academic reviews with subject staff at regular intervals throughout the year. Each student has personalised targets based on past performance, thus allowing students to remain focused and well motivated while retaining a realistic awareness of their academic performance and possible career options. An A Level Mindset course throughout Year 12 supports students to achieve their goals.
