Fish in School Hero Programme
We were excited to be selected as one of 80 schools to receive 8kg of rope-grown mussels. Some of our lucky Year 10 to 13 students had the opportunity to prepare, cook and eat the top-quality mussels served Thai-style on Thursday 23 November. This was part of the national Fish in School Hero programme, which seeks to give pupils a chance to prepare, cook and eat fish before they leave school. Most of the participants had never tasted mussels before the experience, and were thrilled with the results. Along the way, our students were also able to learn about how nutritious, seasonal and sustainable the shellfish were. We would like to extend our thanks to the Food Teachers Centre, Offshore Shellfish Ltd, River Teign Shellfish and DFDS Global for such an outstanding opportunity.
