UNIQ Summer Schools 2012
18th May 2012We are very pleased that three of our year 12 students have recently been awarded a place on the first week of the UNIQ Summer Schools 2012. The UNIQ Summer Schools offer a week long residential experience aimed to provide application support and advice to students from UK state schools who are bright and enthusiastic about learning, and who want to know more about undergraduate study at Oxford. 8th May 2012Year 12 exam preparation begins Monday 14th May. Year 12 students return to school on Wednesday 13th June. Year 13 exam preparation begins Monday June 4th. Year 13 Leavers Day and Prize Day is Tuesday 3rd July 10am-12am. Year 11 Taster Day for AS courses: Monday 9th July (more details will follow) AS and A2 Results Thursday 16th August. GCSE results: Thursday 23rd August. OLYMPIC SONG
2nd May 2012Highworth's song for the Olympics Believe Our Dreams continues to be sung by hundreds... On 2nd May over 200 voices from 54 schools sang the song at a rather damp Julie Rose Stadium! This was Ashford and Tenterden schools' celebration and medal presentation ceremony called 'Pass The Pride'. Also at Highworth on 20th April the whole of year 7 and 8 sang to welcome the Ashford schools' olympic torch in a celebration to mark 100 days till the Olympics. The song itself has lyrics written by year 9 students Sophie Allen, Ashly Jonny, Emma Kingston, Kayleigh Oliver, Shannon Martin-Woodgate, Sian Gilmore, Hannah Bowden-Rooke, Anna Bobeldijk, Andrea Pereira, Ann Gregoriou, Amelia DeLacey, Mary Coleman, Lili Mutyambizi and Chloe Trickey, with music by Mr Cheesman.
