Eventers Challenge Championship 2020

Eventers Challenge Championship, Hickstead 25 August 2020

On an extremely wet and windy Tuesday, a Highworth team of equestrians headed to the prestigious  All England Jumping Course at Hickstead.  It was the first time competing here, for all the riders and their horses, and was a great experience.  Sophie had qualified for the Eventers Challenge Championship earlier in the year, this was contested by over 100 riders in the impressive cross country arena.  One unlucky pole fell at Devil’s Dyke but otherwise a good round finishing with 4 faults and 23rd place.

Sarah, Sophie and Megan represented Highworth competing in the 80-85cm Show Jumping Class which again had over 100 entrants.  Unfortunately, two poles down and a refusal put pay to the teams hopes of a rosette, but lots of experience was gained to build on for the future. Well done to Wizard, Jasper and Sammy for coping with the extremes of the British summer and the team and parents for the early start and adhering to the events rightly rigorous social distancing requirements.
