Highworth Grammar School is a selective school for students aged 11–18. There are 1296 students on roll (including 350 in the sixth form) and 139 full and part time teaching and associate staff. Most students live in the town of Ashford and surrounding villages, however the catchment area is very wide as indicated by the Pupil Postcode map. 50% of staff live within 5 miles of Ashford and the other 50% live over a wide area of Kent.
The school is located on the A20 Maidstone Road , a dual carriageway on the outskirts of Ashford. This is the main road in and out of Ashford from the M20 Junction 9 and is very busy at all times.
The school has one vehicular entrance directly off the Maidstone Road leading to a large Maidstone Road car park (100 parking spaces) at the west end of the school site. This entrance is also used by pedestrians. The main school entrance is off Quantock Drive and leads down a 50m driveway to the Quantock Drive car park (60 parking spaces) at the east end of the school. When there are school events attended by a large number of people the netball courts are used for overflow car parking.
The main pedestrian-only entrance leads off the Quantock Drive car park onto the Maidstone Road . A covered cycle shed next to the Quantock Drive car park provides racks for 20 cycles.
